NanoGreens10 for Children
My patients frequently ask questions like:
and
In my home, we give our kids NanoGreens10 as soon as we start to introduce calories other than milk. Before that, they get their nutrients from the greens through mothers milk. But a couple weeks ago, we started feeding our youngest child non-milk calories and included NanoGreens10. She was about 7 1/2 months of age. She sips it through a straw. We taught her to drink water at first through a coffee stir straw. Once she learned to swallow and not inhale, we switched her to the greens. Now she is used to a more normal size straw. She can suck a whole meal and nanogreens through a straw in about a minute! This makes feeding quick and cleanup minimal.
As far as how much to give them… I consider their body weight. An adult serving is 12 grams. For easy math, lets consider an adult to be 120 lbs. That comes to about 1 gram of greens for every 10 lbs. So my 7 year old gets about 1/2 scoop (6 grams) for his 58 lbs of lean mass. My 4 year old gets 1/3 scoop (4 grams) for his 38 lbs of athleticism. My 2 year old gets about 1/4 scoop (3 grams) for his nearly 30 lbs. of cute muffins. And my infant gets to share some with mom and dad… because if we don’t share she gets all pouty!
So that’s it. Check the videos tab for a YouTube video showing her ‘Miss give me mine moment’ for my greens!
